Current Mods: Removed the rusty old standard exhaust and fitted a stainless one
| I’ve been using my newly acquired Carrera 3.2 daily, travelling to and from work and have thoroughly enjoyed 911 ownership, although the other week whilst on my journey home, the exhaust note changed somewhat. After a closer look at the standard exhaust system it became clear that not only the tailpipe but the whole system was very rusty and in dire need of replacing. After some research I discovered a number of people had been fitting (and were pleased with) stainless steel systems from Turbo Thomas. So a call was made to Richard Thomas, he advised me on the systems he makes and their noise and performance levels. As I’m using the vehicle virtually everyday I didn’t want a ridiculously loud system, just something slightly noisier that standard. Richard recommended a complete stainless system with pre-silencer, so a couple of days later a lovely set up arrived at the office. I debated fitting the exhaust myself, but all the nuts and bolts looked very rusty and a bit of a nightmare to take off. So I took a trip to see the guys at RSR Tyres & Exhaust in Redhill. Mark cut the old system off and proceeded to fit up the new system. All went well and everything fitted spot on - top quality product! The noise is exactly what I was after and seems to get better the more I drive the car. We’re looking at getting it on the rolling road to see if there are any power gains, it certainly feels quicker and certainly more responsive. Oh and I’ve done a number of other bits and bobs including fitting new wheels and tyres, but more on these next month.
